Davinci Resolve is for hardware dweebs and/or post-production studios who build full Linux suites with very special hardware. That’s exactly my experience and why I prefer FCPX for most projects. FCPX runs just fine on my MBP 17 i7 quad core from 2011 and a Radeon 6570. It would work equally well on my MBP 15 of the same generation but I prefer the hires screen and the MBP 17 isn’t too much of a burden to carry (it’s relatively thin and light).

Try Davinci Resolve and there will always be some numbnuts around to tell you what you really need are three high end graphic cards working in parallel if you want real time performance.
